Frigid Temps today in Green Bay

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on January 30, 2008 by vbrice

Below zero all day was the weather we had today. I knew it was colder as I went out with my pets as I do every morning. They count on me to go and it gets me moving so I will always do it. This morning Minnie and Cissy started hopping around on one foot pretty quickly. They don’t like to touch the snow after a bit as it seems too cold for them. I shoveled my car off quickly and made a quick path and then we went all back inside.  I had to go with my sons to their doctor appointments this afternoon. My older son who is a senior was still sick with what I believe had turned into a sinus infection and I thought he could use some anti -biotics if I was correct. My other son had slipped on our back steps the other day and hurt his back and tail bone. I felt he needed a more powerful pain killer as every move hurt him. He is a big son and tough too and taller than my husband and I so when he goes down for the count I knew it had to hurt him bad. We had him ice it alot but an x ray would tell if it was chipped or something. We have insurance so we are luckier than some folks. We got home later after dropping off the slips at the pharmacy. My older son does have a sinus infection and my younger son didn’t break anything but was prescribed something to help with pain management. I made a quick supper of spaghetti and hamburgers as my husband cannot stand spaghetti. When he was little his parents had spaghetti once a week to a strict schedule they rarely changed for a long time. Well he did not like it but was told to eat it and back then he did as he was told. Now he says he will never eat it and for the almost nineteen years we have known each other he has never ate it.  I gave the boys their meds later in the evening and now I am catching up on my emails and of course reading blogs. I am going to do our taxes this weekend. My husband ran our newest truck in the ditch over a week ago and it is still not ready. The last road he takes to get to work is a lone stretch of farm road. It is known by the locals to be windy and snow drifts when it blows. When he got pulled out he noticed the anti-freeze dripping and didn’t want to do anymore damage. We found out it did damage alot so Broadway Chevrolet gave him a rental to use. It is a cute little red  Ford Focus. He is actually saving on gas using this. We hope the truck is done by Friday.

more soon: off to shut off the lights and hit the hay!

Farewell to 2007

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on December 28, 2007 by vbrice

Alas ,tis time to say a fond farewell to 2007. What has this year done for you? What have you not completed? I will think back to January. I was not excited about the playoffs like I am now. My Packers were not in the playoffs last year. In February, I spotted Cissy. She was the littlest runt of the litter of my neighbor and friend, Pat. Pat told me her birthday was the same as mine!  I had to have her!  In seven weeks, I did go get her and she is a little sweetie. I then had two little puffy topped heads that ran through my home and I loved it.  In March, I ordered some trees from the National Arbor Foundation. I got them for planting in early May. I also got some rose bushes from my father.  I planted them and had a good garden in the summer too.  We set up a new pool this summer.  My husband made better steps and deck to get in  and out of the pool too.  My husband was in the bar outside of town and the bartender told him she had a litter of kittens that she really needed to give away as she had too many on her farm. In late July my husband brought home the littlest runt of her litter.  The bartender’s daughter picked out the cutest one for my husband she said. My son named her Muffin as he had never named a pet before.  She is special because she has fives toes on each paw and is a very pretty cat.  We had vehicle problems this year as well. We did purchase a new vehicle too this year mainly because of the problems we had with the other ones. We went to a family reunion this past summer as well. I saw family from my Mom’s side that I hadn’t seen since I was a teen. I had a great time as we traveled up to Munising,Michigan. It’s where my Mom was born. I got to see my Grandma and Grandfather’s grave-sites.  I had never met Everett when he was alive as he died from burns from a house fire, so I told him ,hi. My Grandma had died in 2006 and this was my first visit to her resting place. I also saw my Mom’s grave in Brevort,Michigan. It was a much needed trip. This year went by fast and I still am going to the doctor for my back pain. I hope next year I have good luck and good times. I wish all of you the same.

More soon: off to go figure out my new toy, a digital camera I got for Christmas.

Helping Each Other

Posted in family life with tags , , on November 10, 2007 by vbrice

Today I would like to say that my blog family has helped me in a lot of ways. I believe the secret to really successful writing is a focus on vision, encouragement and camaraderie with all the people around you, plus you must have a splash of fun thrown in. Creativity will flow when you connect! I have found a new passion. Today I have to find a light bulb for my outdoor light. The kind that goes on when someone moves. My husband is working so I have to go scrounge around in his lair, the garage. Where nothing is organized thru a woman’s eyes and it all looks like a mass of gadgetry and metal pieces. My husband claims he knows when someone dare steps in and moves a nail. I guess he can have that super power as I  have special powers to. I have bionic eyes. My older sons know this as they have tried many years to sneak in my home in the wee hours of the night hoping ,just hoping,  Mom would never find out. I swear my ears awaken me the minute their cars turn down our block. It also helps that my German Shepard knows too and he shakes his head and in turn rattles his dog tags in a greeting to his family he loves so faithfully. I also have the power to come into a room and super scan it all and yes I can see where my sons have left a plate, cup, can, socks,or any other clothing. I don’t necessarily clean it up or turn into super Mom. I have learned thru time to let some things go and go thru repetitive blocks of training with my sons in order to get the best results. I have accomplished alot. My sons all can cook,do laundry, take out the trash, cut the lawn, and maintain their rooms to a somewhat respectable level.  What woman wants a man they meet not to have these qualities? I have tried to make great future husbands and along with the handyman training my husband has given each of them, I can say yup we did good! I still am not finished as the younger two boys are still in training phase 107.

More Soon: going to Wal-Mart to get some more q-tips.

What my day is going like.

Just wanted to talk today as I am checking my emails and busy with making my picks on my football lists I do online.I of course always pick my Packers.I got my grey Packers sweatshirt on and jeans.I figured since it was an away game I can wear grey, home games I wear my green! I have also tried to visit my friends blogs as they all are into the gadgets and all that I don’t have yet or I haven’t had time to try to figure out.I  have my coffee here with my french vanilla creamer, its a luxury I enjoy that no one else likes in my family so its all mine! I scrapped my hand on branches I was trimming yesterday in my yard. I still want to burn them in my firepit but it rained this morning so I probably will do it later in the week.I am going to have to go through my mail ,I procastinate on junk mail during the week so I have a bunch of stuff to recycle.I hope everyone is recycling, that junk you aren’t recycling is going to be here for your grandkids or ancestors so please do. I did my husband’s family tree to France.I told him that’s why he is such a good lover. My hot shower is wearing off and darn it I am feeling stiff. I must of overdid the yardwork yesterday.I will enjoy relaxing some while I watch the Packer game.I say that cause a Mom’s work is never done I will multi-task like I always do. My dogs are all sleepy this morning, except Zeke,my german shepard, his job is to stay alert and he does a great job being a guard dog.He is always on the lookout for someone to go outside with.He hasn’t slowed down in the 4 almost 5 years that we have had him.

more soon : going to eat a late breakfast.
